Dhofar / Oman
Follow Arabian Sea moisture into Dhofar's cloud forest, cross the climatic edge to the arid frankincense landscape, then trace resin back toward the ports that moved it outward.

Why this place · why now
The route is built around Dhofar's climatic inversion: Arabian Sea moisture becomes cloud forest, then breaks across the escarpment into the arid frankincense landscape and historic ports.
No waterfall, live tapping/harvest, private practitioner or perfume-luxury access is promised. Mid-September remains a design hypothesis, not an edition lock.

Route geography
Dhofar · Salalah coast → cloud-forest escarpment → Wadi Dawkah → Al-Baleed / Khor Rori
The map preserves the wet-to-dry climate break. Exact seasonal visibility, roads, heat and heritage-site state remain live.

Environmental context
Curated J-012 master pair: sea moisture, green escarpment and dry frankincense terrain make the climatic inversion legible without claiming live tapping or private practitioner access.
The authored route
The Journey starts at the Arabian Sea as the moisture source, before green mountains or resin are allowed to dominate the image of Dhofar.
Seasonal marine moisture is the first input in a regional climate gradient rather than a resort backdrop.
Salt · humid air · grey sea · evening wind · muted surf
No swim state, resort inventory or exact coastal condition is promised.
Sea moisture climbs the mountain as cloud, turning a public road/short-walk corridor into wet limestone, grass and cloud-forest atmosphere.
Monsoon physics creates a windward ecological zone that must remain distinct from the drier frankincense landscape later in the route.
Cool mist · wet limestone · grass · muffled sound · droplets · lower visibility
Fog itself can be the chapter when roads are safe; clear views, waterfalls, wildlife and pastoral encounters are not promised.
The route crosses the mountain until green and fog give way to stronger light, ochre ground and drier air, making the climatic boundary physically legible.
The rain-shadow transition prevents the false story that all of Dhofar shares the same Khareef ecology.
Wet green · fog edge · brighter light · drying air · ochre stone · warmer road
The exact visual contrast varies with season and visibility; the chosen public corridor remains a live route decision.
In the drier alluvial wadi the Boswellia tree finally appears, correcting the assumption that the green monsoon face directly produces the resin story.
Frankincense begins with arid ecology, protected heritage and tree stewardship before it becomes aroma or commerce.
Dry heat · pale gravel · rough bark · milky resin trace · sparse shade · silence
Heat, opening state and designated public paths govern the visit; no live tapping, harvester encounter or off-path tree contact is promised.
Public heritage interpretation turns tree material into cultural meaning, use and maritime value without requiring a private perfume producer or special object access.
Resin becomes economically consequential when material knowledge, demand and maritime networks give it circulation and meaning.
Resin colour · dark display · stone · ship model · cooled interior · restrained scent if legitimately present
Private curator, handling, burning, perfume production and practitioner access remain optional or absent; public museum truth is sufficient.
The Journey ends where inland resin became outward movement through fortified maritime nodes and the Arabian Sea re-enters the story.
Distribution closes the causal loop from sea moisture to material source and back toward the sea as trade.
Stone wall · khor water · salt wind · open horizon · heat releasing late in day
Khor Rori is a preferred public close, not a fixed promise; Al-Baleed/sea context preserves the chapter if road/site state changes.

What changes
Salt wind and grey sea → cool mist/wet limestone/green slope → clearing light and dry ochre → rough Boswellia bark/resin → dark stone interior → harbour/open sea.
What is not fixed
No waterfall, live tapping/harvest, private practitioner or perfume-luxury access is promised. Mid-September remains a design hypothesis, not an edition lock.

Interest / access
Expressing interest helps us understand fit and timing. It does not reserve a seat and does not convert a working Journey into a released edition.
